If there is something you would like to know that I have not included on the website, please do contact me by phone or email.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy recommended by the NHS and World Health Organization for treating trauma and PTSD. It helps the brain safely process distressing memories, so they no longer cause strong emotional reactions. You do not have to talk through every detail of your trauma for EMDR to work.
I help clients with:
PTSD and complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
Childhood trauma
Anxiety and panic linked to trauma
Recovery from abuse (sexual, emotional, physical)
Dissociation and feeling numb or detached
Low self-esteem and shame linked to past experiences
Our first sessions focus on building a safe and trusting relationship. We will explore your goals for therapy and go at a pace that feels right for you. If we decide to use EMDR, I will guide you through each step and explain the process clearly. You are always in control of how we work.
This varies for each person. Some clients feel significant relief after just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work, especially when processing complex or childhood trauma. We will regularly review your progress together and tailor the therapy to your needs and goals - there is no pressure or fixed timeline.
Most clients attend weekly sessions, which helps build momentum and a safe therapeutic relationship. However, I offer flexible scheduling, including fortnightly if needed. We will discuss what feels manageable and supportive for you.
Yes. I offer trauma therapy and EMDR both in-person in Middlesbrough and online UK-wide via secure video sessions. Many clients find online therapy to be as effective and sometimes more comfortable, especially when working with trauma.
If you have any other questions or would like to discuss working together, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. Please get in touch - I'd be happy to help.
